Default Larger Gas Tank for Heritage?

Does anyone know where I can get a 7 or 8 gal gas tank for my 08 Heritage? Or would it be cheaper to just have someone widen mine? I don't like having to stop and fill up every 200 mi. Seems like after riding for a little while, you're back to looking for the nearest gas station again.

Unless you're an 'Iron Butt' rider I'm not sure what you're looking for. If you're traveling your ready to stop at less than 200 miles anyway. Plus, getting gas is where you meet all of the other riders.

I thought it was pretty clear what I was looking for. Who needs an iron butt, the way they make these bikes these days, 200mi is done before lunch.

You must have a lot of time to ride. I'm getting ready to retire shortly and I just might feel the same way as you. Haven't seen a tank that big except for an auxilary one on the back. That was on a Honda ST and the guy was an Iron Butt rider. Had 137000 miles in just a few years.

I work 24hr shifts so I have every other day off. And I've got an 08 w/ almost 30k. Would be more but the weather sucks in NJ in the winter time. If I need a break, I want to be able to pull over and take one. I shouldn't have to scedule my brakes around gas station locations. There's alot of backroads around here that you can drive for miles with no station in site. Those are the places I like to ride.

I know what you mean. I'm originally from the Pittsburgh area. I now live in North Carolina and get to ride pretty much all year. January and February are 'iffy' but I still get out a little too. Go for it.

If your gonna get a larger tank, get an aftermarket one, that way if you want to go back you still got your old parts. I think a 7 or 8 gal would look kinda odd. I put a 6 gallon on and it is way wide.

A 7 gallon might not look too bad since you've got saddlebags on your bike. I bought a 7 gallon stretched tank for my NightTrain and it looked like ****. Your gonna be limited though with the EFI, pretty much limited to either widening yours or having a custom made. Russ Wernimont does make larger tanks but only for baggers, you could probably modify the mounts on one of those pretty easy, but theyre like $1200 though.

just throw a couple 1gal plastic can in the bags, then U'll have 7 gal.

wife and love to ride county rodes also... average bout 40mph so that 5hrs of riding on the stock tank, so with the (2) 1 gal cans that should give U about 7hrs riding before hitting a station.
