Default Need Some Windshield Advice & Opinions

I currently have a HD Deuce quick detach windshield (lightly smoked). At first I was very apprehensive about the looks, but honestly I kinda like it. But anyways, I'm getting some heavy buffeting on my eyeballs. It seems to occur about 50-60 mph. I've done a little searching and it seems others have had this problem also. So here's my questions,

1) do they make a taller windshield for the Deuces? I'm thinking about one that was 2-3 inches taller to direct the wind over my head. Right now the airflow hits me right about in the eyes.

2) if they don't make a taller windshield, is it possible to swap out a Heritage Softail windshield? I know the brackets won't work, but could I remove the hardware and bolt the plastic windshield into my existing hardware that I have now?

If ya'll have any suggestions on how to fix this, let's here it.

Thanks in advance,
Brian.

You did not say if you had the standard height windshield, and if you look over the top setting on the bike. I installed the standard one on my 99 Softail Custom, and I could just barely see over it if I sat up straight. I ended up cutting out the area above the headlight in order to lower the windshield down to where the lower clamps are below the lower triple tree. That helped with the buffeting quite a bit. Now I can see over it much better, and to me that is what you want, because if you ever get caught in the rain you will not be able to see anything. I also took a Dremel with a cutting tool and cut the slots in the brackets where the top clamps fit, a little deeper so that the windshield slopes back a little more. That also helped a little. You will find that most of the buffeting you are getting is coming in at the bottom and up over the tank. If you hold your hand in front of your face, you will feel it. With my windshield lowered, I still do not get any wind from over the top. Lowering it will not stop the buffeting completely, but it is way better than before. Maybe someone else will chime in here with some other advice. I get along fine with mine now as long as I am not in a hard cross wind at highway speeds. You can do a search on this forum for how to cut windshields.

I've got the detachable HD Deuce windshield. It's 21" overall height with 15" from the top of the headlight hole to the top of the windshield. While sitting on the bike, my eyes are about 2" over the top of the windshield.

I think you're right, I tried moving my hand around and I think the buffeting is from the bottom. I'm thinking about putting a tool bad on the forks to help disrupt the air flow.

Get something with a recurve. I've got a Windvest that drastically reduces the wind.

I agree with Jim Kraft. The wind is coming from under the shield. Mine is datacheable so I only use it on long runs and I always ride with glasses. On really long runs it takes away the main force of the wind on my body so my arms don't have to work so hard.
