Strange Thing's A'foot
I happened to comment to one of the sales staff who told me none of the new bikes were for sale ( instructions from Harley ), they were show bikes and could not be sold under any circumstances, without HD's approval.

When I commented on the number of new bikes the dealer told me that the instructions are to only accept orders only and that the bike's on show are not to be sold without HD approval, he said that the bike's were 'Show Bikes only'. and that they had taken delivery of 12 in one day. (The store had already taken a delivery of 2010 models earlier in the month.)
In the Uk riders are not so bothered about the year of the bike, its all about the number on the plate. New registrations are issued twice a year, March & September and resale prices are reflected in relation to when the bike was registered. Bike sales are low in September as most UK riders dont see the point in buying an expensive bike, just put it in a garage for 6 months and then to have last years registation plate. I did buy my Fat Boy in September but only because the dealer gave me what I paid for my Dyna when I bought it new, 18 months ago. He also knocked Ł500 ( $1000 ) off the price of the Fat Boy and threw in a detatchable backrest and lougage rack of my choice for free.
Dealers are laying off staff and offering sevices on bikes around a quarter of the price at this time of the year ( usualy Ł200 ($400 ), now Ł75 ($150), so a big delivery at this time just makes no sense.
It's also strange that HD is not going to be at the UK's Motorcycle show this year, The bigest & most attended Motorcycle show in the UK and no HD stand, UK HD, HQ is only 5 mins from the venue, what gives.
I'm also aware that earlier in the year the European dealers were selling bike's to each other, which has now been blocked.
Over to you guy's
