I always preferred wire wheels over full wheels or mags. I am thinking about changing the front wheel on my 03 Fat Boy, or having the cast aluminum one that's already there polished to match the chrome on the rest of the bike...I see some pics of the full wheel polished to chrome and don't know if it's been bought like that or have they had it polished. any comments or suggestions would be appreciated...thanks...
I had a '95 Fatboy with the polished aluminum wheels. It came from the factory that way. They looked really good. And i only saw a handful of Fatboys with them. I thought they looked better then the chrome ones. I don't think you can get a high polish on the regular wheels because it's not a smooth surface. There is a new front polished one on e-bay right now for $549.49

There are a lot of options if you have the cash. I like spokes too, but regular 40 spokes wouldn't do. I had radial laced big spokes from Hallcrafts but the rear hub cracked. Went to 80 spokes now and love 'em. The stockers are a clean look, but I hated the way they act.
For a Fatboy you may want to consider fat spokes to go with the solid rear wheel. You may want to check out fat daddy or dna. I just bought the DNA wheels and paid 350 bucks for a 21" front. The stock 16" may be a bit cheaper as well, not sure. The fit and finish look top notch on the wheels and the price isn't bad especially if you go stock and reuse your tire, rotor, etc. g/l.
I agree the spokes look nice but are a pain to clean...we have spokes on our '09 Street Bob..I am liking the Chrome on my '09 FB...so easy to maintain and gives the bike quite the different look when on the road compared to all the other HD's out there. Although having said that I might in the end only change the front to something a bit different in the future but not for now.
i saw a place on ebay where they took your rims and cut out 4 different patterns in them. they cut all the way thru. Item number: 140349002923

I would only be changing the front wheel. I like the pic of your bike. Are they "Hallcraft" wheels or another type?
thanks for the info..
No they are not Hallcraft. I had their 46 Big Spoke radial laced wheels. The rear cracked in 9 places where the spokes went through the flange on the hub. Hallcrafts went under and left me holding the bag. I still have a perfect front and have considered Ride Wright or DNA big spokes to replace the rear. I think they are stronger where the spokes attach. The 80 spokes in the picture are Harley. I know they'll be around a while if I have problems. I have connections with a dealer and got 'em real cheap. American Wire Wheel also has a lot of quality products you might like too.
