There was someone on here that cut the center out of the football shaped cover and I thought I had that persons page saved in my favorites but I can't find it. That's an option and something I think you might like.
If anyone else has that saved if you'd share please I'd appreciate it.
His name was Mud and he called the process a "Mud Cut." He has retired from making them, however you can do it pretty easily yourself. Just get yourself a jigsaw with metal blade or a rotozip, tape the cover so you dont stratch it, draw yer circle and cut away the outside of your football cover. I could snap a couple pics if you like.

yes please if you wouldn't mind snapping some pics.
could there have been someone else also? cause I don't remember "mud cut" or maybe there was someone else on here doing it also? It's been within the last year that I saw this but if it was mud for some reason that isn't ringing a bell with me?
I went with the stage II. Would the derby cover still fit when cut down or would it be too small?
Those pics turned out fine. If you wanna take better pics it'd be appreciated but don't go outta your way unless you feel like doing it and you really don't mind.
I have the stage II also and it fits just fine. If you are concerned, you could just measure the diameter of the filter and make your circle cut the same size. I was nervous at first about the fit and screwing it up but figured what the hell... I was getting rid of the football cover anyways so if it worked out... free cover for me and if not.... buying one anyways...
