The HD motorparts and accessories catalog has had an 04 NT with hard bags pictured in it since 04. I wouldn't put 'em on.

I'm not crazy about the looks of saddlebags on a Train either. But sometimes, everyone can't afford to just go out and buy another bike. So we have to make do with what we have. I personally don't have saddle bags on my Train. But I'd put them on if needed. Because I dang sure can't go out and buy a bagger right now. I have a large T-bag style bag that I use for trips though. I also don't really like the looks of a windshield either. But I recently bought a Windvest brand. I got a steal on it from ebay. I'll use it sometimes. I don't like the looks of the sundowner seat on my Train either. But I do put it on when the wife rides with me. So I guess that it's function over form sometimes. :-)

Chop On,
Robert

love my NT. have been looking for a set of throw-over soft bags that I can afford - the latter piece is the hard one to satisfy.

guy I work with has removable hard bags on an 06 (I think) NT. looks a little odd, but not turn green a throw up bad. and if you need the space, you need the space.

all things being equal, it'd be great to have the extra gazillion dollars to have a bike for every occasion, but I know I feel like a dork riding the NT to work with my backpack on... if I could get something to hold the computer and workout stuff without a backpack, I'd do it every day of the week and twice on Sundays...

anything that lets you ride more and / or longer is a great idea and a wonderful addition to the bike imo.

The second someone ponies up the money for me to buy a bagger is the second I start giving a crap what they think about the windshield and bags on my Night Train. I ride nearly 2,000 miles a month, and the "bagger crap" is what allows me to do that.

Hard bags are not my style, and the H-D ones are tiny, but to each their own.

Anything, and I mean anything that makes it easier to put on more miles is a good thing. Don't let the so-called "real bikers" make you feel bad about making your bike more comfortable and convenient.

Agreed. Buy a backpack. I went on a 6 day trip over 2k miles with a backpack. Yeah, my shoulders hurt, but at least my bike looked good. You have to do what you have to do though. Just find some good ones if you go that route, I have seen a few.

Cool

Putting a windshield or bags on a Night Train is like putting a sweatsuit on Angelina Jolie.

It might make her more warm and comfortable, but WTF are you thinking??
