Default Getting SERT cable Friday, need help

Ok guys,

I bought my 07 Night Train used and finally made it to the original dealer the first owner bought it from to pick up the dongle. I ordered the cable online and should get it Friday. I have searched on this topic and read many many threads and could not find anything specific and easy on how to work this thing.

When I went to my local dealer(not the one it was purchased from) for my 1k maint, it came out running a lot different. Like it had lost power on acceleration and I get pops on decel. This was a couple months ago and I"m starting to think they changed my map or tune from when the bike was originally bought at another dealer. I never really thought about it, as I was thinking I was getting used to the power and torque, so that's why it seemed less. The popping definitely was not there before and now I'm starting to question my getting used to the power.

I have a heavy breather and V&H short shots on it right now. Is loading the map easy because I think it has been changed and could someone point me to which map or an easy tutorial. I have the 07 cd and after reading through it, I'm still confused and fuzzy on this whole tuning thing.

Thanks for any help everybody.

regards,

Dale

Is this for a SERT? If so, and if your software is not updated go here and download this. It's latest software update for the SERT. I downloaded it and then printed off the entire manual part of it and then read, and read and read. Basically you can load up a base map for your specific motor and come close on the mods, since it's all based on H-D parts, and then tweak it from there.

There are several guys in the tech forum that can lend a hand on changes. My advice is take baby steps, and always keep each map and it's changes "saved", so you can compare and revert back if needed. Otherwise you'll just have to reload the base map and start over. I've got my bike running well, and I'm pretty happy with the map I have.

I'm still thinking of getting it dyno'd, but only because I'm changing exhaust and would like it done right. But you can do it and be perfectly happy, yourself.

Good Luck!

u've got an 07 that just now got the 1k service?
Did U talk the dealer about the power loss after the 1k work..???

now a couple months, have U put the pipes and HB since the 1k ?
Don't thing they would remap or retune without U paying for it....
unless it Was somekind of recall issue..

If Ur doing the SERT why not just let them dyno tune it.??..

I bought the bike used and only had 1k miles on it. I got a steal of a deal. I didn't talk to the dealer because i thought I was just getting used to the power. They don't have a dyno, so I think they would just load default maps, so I'm going to learn how to use this bad boy and do it myself. My 1k maintenance checkup says "ECM map check," so I'm just curious. I'll just have to load the laptop here in a few minutes and check it out.

regards,

Dale

Changed the map to a newer one and it works MUCH better. No more decel pops and accelerating through the gears is smoother. I went with this map if anyone is curious.
