I'm looking to change out the Stock Air Filter with the SE Stage 1 kit. I want to also switch to a Round Air Cleaner cover. Will I be able to do this with this kit, and since the backplate looks round will I still be able to switch back to the original Oval cover one ?
10-4....The stage 1 will fix both type covers and the backing plate remains the same
When I had my SE/AC installed by a dealer, I requested the round AC cover. They told me the round cover restricts the air flow and recommended I not change. Was I taken for a ride? I really wanted the old round look.

Dealer didn't say anything about that. He did add a gasket which he said ws needed on the inside of the cover though.
Dry filter, I believe. You can buy the SE air cleaner kit from Eastern at a cheaper price $119, I paid full price of $139 at Harley. Eastern pays for shipping too. Its so easy to install yourself and good experience to do it yourself. Of course you have to add a fuel/air management system after you do this install if you are adding after market pipes. If no pipes the dealer must do a download.
I did the V&H pipes, the SE air cleaner and used the V&H Fuelpak. It was an easy install. Removing the old exhaust system took the longest and putting on the new was a bit of a juggle but its not hard, just takes a little time. I did not have the dealer do any downloads. The only advantage I believe is to change the rev limiter up a few hundred rpms.
