Thanks for all of the good advice. I did ride home and it wouldn't budge with a rag even hot. While it was hot I very gentally used a puddy knife and too the big chunks off cold. I'll probably try the easy off for the smudges that are left.

To prevent problems in the future, you should sew leather patches on your polyester pants where they come into contact with the pipes.
