Default Tire Pressure Question

I just bought a 2007 Softail Custom with only 461 miles. The bike didn't come with an owner's manual. I'd appreciate it someone would tell me the recommended front/rear tire air pressure for solo and two-up riding. Also, let me know if you're aware of a site where I can download an owner's manual?

You can buy an owners manual from one of many online dealers for 20% off. It is highly recommended. Otherwise the search function might help you as well. This is how it was when I got here. I think it is 30 front 40 rear for 2 up, 30 and 36 for solo, according to my 2002 manual.

Recommended tire pressures are printed on the sidewall of the tire. I always run my tires at maximum pressure 38 front, 40 rear. The tires last longer and I don't have to worry about adding air for 2 up.

EVERY TIRE has it on the sidewall. Different brands of tires require different pressures.
Always check your tires cold.

have yall ever had faulty valve stem caps? I got serviced at the dealer, and when it came out, she was wearing 2 different - mix matched caps. I had the stock ones on originally, but didnt say anything. Just last week I checked my tire press and the front was so low it wouldnt even register on the gauge. I looked in the cap and there was a jumbled up o-ring in the end of the cap. Looks like it may have been depressing my pin and slowly letting air out at a faster rate. I usually fill to rite at 40 front and back regardless. Im paranoid about flat center wear.

I never had a faulty valve cap, but I have had loose/defective valve cores lose air.

Default Checked my tire pressure each ride.

Most of the time it stayed the same. a little cooler pressure was a little less.. same with heat a little hotter a little higher. No more.. I read where most new luxury auto's were coming from factory with ARGON in the tires. Replaced my air with argon. I can actually tell the difference and the pressure is always the same no matter what the temp or how many miles i have ridden. Now have it in all my vehicles. My opion is change to argon not nitrogen.

Forget the owners manual, buy the Service Manual. It will pay for itself many times over.

I have a 2007 Softail manual. Cold tire pressure for the FXSTC (softail custom) is solo rider= 30 front, 38 rear and 2-up= 30 front, 42 rear. Hope this helps.
