Default Removing baffles from Screamin' Eagle pipes

I have the Screamin' Eagle pipes (put on by previous owner). I want to know if I can remove the baffles and if so, does it sound good (louder)? Does it adversly affect HP? Are there any re-jetting issues? Thanks...

Your probably going to be told no it doesnt effect power but I've raced stock cars and run at drag strips and race snowmobiles and moto cross and 4 wheelers and when ever you decrease back pressure to much you loose or change your power band with out changing fuel and intake. Your pipes where not designed to run without baffels. Just my 2 cents.

That's pretty much what I thought, and you confirmed it for me. Thanks.

If they are like mine, they are just bolted in. Take em out and try it, but I think you would be better off with the back pressure.

There easy to remove and will definitly be louder without them. You will lose HP and Tourqe in the low and mid power bands.

I have the SE 16 shotgun, which are sort of like the V&H, but the chamber is different. Anyway, I removed the baffles because they were really too quiet for me, and put in Thundermonsters. I had Stage 1 installed at same time as new pipes, and did not notice a loss of hp or torque, especially in gears 2-4. Flattens out a bit around 55 mph, but then seems to catch a second wind. The new baffles are not as loud as running drag, and actually have a much deeper tone to them. I like the sound, and as far as I can tell, no drop in performance.

I have heard that you can remove the baffels and drill out the holes a little larger to add power and change the sound somewhat. Better sound and more power, maybe 3-4 hp the difference between the SEII standard setup and a V&H setup at the get go.

But.......if you do this you need to dyno the bike and get the right download to reset the air/fuel mix to ideal. Any change to the pipes or air cleaner will require this to get the max benefit.
