Default possible trans problem
I have a 2003 softail standard that I had just purchased, well after riding it around, I start to notice when I downshift into first gear sometimes it feels like I don't have the clutch pulled in all the way, and when I slow down more, it will then go into first, what could be the problem, do i have to tighten up the clutch?

If you mean that it makes a grinding sound when you try to shift into first when moving at a high rate of speed, I believe it's normal. I've adjusted my clutch and it would still happen. Now I just wait until I'm going a slower speed and then down shift. Problem solved.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but if you were to try and shift to first while going over...say...30 mph, you would get that grinding sound and not be able to down shift...or am I wrong?
