I have a S/E stage 1 filter underneath the stock air cleaner cover of my cross bones, V&H pipes and S/E supa tuner.
I like the look of the performance macine (PM) super gas air cleaner cover which comes with a K&N stage 1 air filter.
two questions:
1) Do you simply unscrew the stock cover and s/e filter and replace with the PM set up - can any idiot do this before I start unscrewing?
2) Do I need to re-map - both filters are hi flow so I dont think I should?
You will have to change the backplate to make that work. You will remove the cover on the air filter, remove the filter and then remove the backplate. The reinstall the new stuff. Simple enough.
sorry gents, a little confused, are you saying the back plate on there now wont fit, i.e. its unique to teh S/E set up? If so, what back plate do I buy for for the PM cleaner?
If you already have a stage 1 SE backing plate you're good... Are you planning on going with just the face plate upgrade? Keep in mind that most dealer installed SE backing plate are not chrome or black... they are a dull grey color... You can paint your black though.
