Default 21" HD profile rim or equal

I love the "smoothness" of the profile spoked rims that came with my Annv. bike.

I will admit I know very little about the sizes of axles and bearings of softails

Can someone with more knowledge tell me if HD makes a 21" smooth profile rim that matches my back rim that will fit a deluxe? If not, does anyone know of a aftermarket rim that would match.

If someone could tell me what to look for in searching (like axle size etc..) I can do the homework myself.

I do not want to have to replace both rims. I know most of you guys are running your stock rear rim but I want to match as close as can be.

I have found nothing other then the HD rim. Of course HD says it will not fit but that is the standard company line.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!!!!

THANKS!!!!

yes they make one and they are frequently on ebay (the back one is the hard one to find). your 08 uses a 25mm front axle and if you will need to find a 08 or newer softail rim or you will need to buy bearings and spacers if you try to run a older (3/4 inch bearings) softail rim. i bolted a profile rim off a 08 custom onto my 08 deluxe with no issues at all.

good luck

btw search "profile" and "smooth" as the rims are listed as both

I am not quite positive on the exact years of this because it has been alittle while since I swapped mine over, but, I dont believe the front axle was ever a 25mm. It went straight from 3/4" to 1". The rear axle, on the other hand went from 3/4" to 25mm to 1" (or maybe 1" to 25mm, I forget). I put a smoothie off an 08 on my 04. When doing that, I did find a couple smoothie rears, but not many. I dont believe the softails ever had one available in the narrower width, or if so its extremely rare. I am pretty sure a rear would fit off of a Superglide Custom though. It may be a 1/2" wider wheel, but that shouldnt matter, it will still fit. I believe you can go up to a 4.5" wide rear wheel with no clearance issues.

The front axle switched to 25mm in '07. I think it's the rear axle that went to 1" in '08, iirc.

if you havent already, look american wire wheel. they make very nice oem looking wheels. i put a 40 spoke 18" rear wheel on my fxsts and kept the stock 21" front and a person not in the know would be very hard pressed to point out any differances.
