I bought a Deluxe because I wanted one ever since the moo-glide first came out. When I came here and saw OS_Deluxes sled I was blow away. It was the perfect fusion of my love of low lows and harleys. I literally told my wife "this is what I am building". There's no shame in that. Many bikes fit into the same style. Its the details that set them apart.

I earn the money, I buy the parts, I turn the wrenches. That makes my bike MINE regardless of what size the front rim is.

Ride safe all.
after i purchased my ride i thought i knew what i wanted my bike to be. Man was i wrong...but then i was searching e-bay and seen this bike for sale last sept. 08', and it blew me away! (pic below-i still kept the pics) i said to myself this is a look for me.
Then a few days later i saw OS_Deluxe's ride in a online LowRider Magazine just searchen the web and my mind was made up. 21" up front and slammed with some Samson longtails. IMO no better look out there...

This was the first bike i saw with a 21" up front

You know that is a hell of a good point! Thanks for sharing. I guess after seeing so many on this forum I was kind of floored. Again the military moved me out here to Southern MD and it is very very country out here and I do not get a chance to see a load of bikes other than baggers. But you make a valid point about those that want to improve their bikes tend to migrate to this forum.

Having a Harley used to be about individuality but I see the same thing all of the time, everyone follows the crowd even if it is "grotesque" Look up this word , it means from designs found in caves. Personally I think the 21 inch wheel under the FL fender looks like something from the first invention of the wheel, maybe something that you would see on Fred Flintstones Harley. And the Vance and Hines long shots pipes look like someone went to Napa auto parts ,bought two pieces of straight pipes and welded them in place. Real styling left when the choppers of the seventies with their sleek and well proportioned looks went away.

you talk about sleek and well proportioned bikes but in your sig you have a softail with huge bags and a touring pack. I have bags too that I will throw on my bike when needed too but I would not make an open statement that real styling left after the choppers of the 70's.

Your talking about a bike that I use for practical use everyday but I lived riding the Harley choppers of the 70's and still know styling when I see it . Thats my point, I don't put a picture of my bike on here and make it the same as everyone elses just to impress everyone. I ride what I think looks good but still practical, since I don't just stand there and look at it or ride down to the local bar and back. I'm not running down anyones bike. You ride what you like. All i'm saying is that some guys will put parts on their bike just because that is what the crowd is doing , even though they don't particularly like the look. I personally know guys that do it.

And in the 70's, guys who rode in the 50's complained that the current guys' bikes were all looking the same, with their 18" over forks that you could barely turn around, 21" front wheel with no brake, and flake paint jobs.
What's it matter?

Putting on a 21"er and dropping the fender on a 16"er are two very different mods towards two very different styles IMHO. I realy like the look on that deluxe (OP).

Mimo.

You are correct, cut off the tabs and redrill the holes.

good luck!
Here is a picture of my 2010 Heritage, with the fender lowered 2" and I kept the chrome rail at the same time!

I also raked the front end by 4 degrees and added 2" to the tubes.
