It does leave quite a bit of a gap between your lighting cluster and the fender. However, it is a way to make your bike look like it's slammed without messing with the suspension or ride. Definitely limits you to keeping a 16" wheel on the front.
^True, but most people are a little scared to take off a perfectly good fender and take a High Speed metal cutoff wheel to the fender brackets!! haha
Agreed. It's a much easier mod to just bolt up a 21 than it is to lower a fender.
With a 16" rim a lowered fender looks great. I'm still thinking I might have room to lower my fender a bit with the 21 on it. Someday I'll get around to it. If it makes it look even lower then I'll be all over it.

To me the appearence of a slammed bike is NOT how low your fender is to your wheel but how low the bike is. With the fender just lowered looks alot different than a 21" wheel. A 21" wheel gives it a whole different styling. As far as cutting tabs off a fender and dropping it???? It cost about the same. Buying a wheel vs. cutting tabs/drilling holes/paint/ect. IMO...Cosmetically a dropped fender looks wrong..Kind of like sticking 15" wheels with low pro tires on a Chevy 2500 4x4 lifted....

Wait-thats wrong? Crap.
lol j/k.
I'm all about the 21" wheel. One of my favorite looks, however the cost are nowhere near the same. A fender can be cut and re-drilled for free. No painting, it's that simple. Cut tabs of right inside fender lip, slide fender between forks, mark holes, drill, bolt up. Free.
With all that said, I love my lowered fender, pics do it no justice, but damn I want a 21!!!!!!!!
21" rim does look good, then again you kind of hit it right on the nose. You see them everywhere and every swing dick seems to be doing it. I love the look do not get me wrong, but what about the first guy who shoved a 21" rim in a FLST fender. He had something that look different.
We buy bikes and say we want to make them our own but then we make them look like every other bike. Some are so damn worried about what every one will think or what they are doing.
I do not know, I have thought about the 21" rim slammed front and back with fishtails but hell that is the standard norm. I am trying to step back and think outside of the box.
I am for sure going to get my bike repainted but keep the copper and black just do it in another style. Maybe a copper fad to black. May or may not keep my fish tails...
I think this winter while I am busted up I may be doing some staring at the bike to decided if the 21" is for me or outside of the box.
I agree 100% There are some mods that people do that, to me, look like hell, I can think of two right off the bat that involve bars and pipes. I see the same things over and over. It reminds me of the sign I saw on the pipe display at our local dealer, it said "V&H Big Radius, be unique". I was laughing cause almost every damn bike I see has those pipes. I say if you like a particular look then do it, it is your bike, i only make the payments on my bike, i damn sure aint going to tell you what to do with yours.

Dusty,
can you post up some more pics of your bike with closer shots of your fender and rim?

I like your ride Dusty.....i don't meen any disrespect on your bike at all. But DAMM if you raised your fender back up then put a 21" wheel up inside of her......Did i say "DAAAuuuMMMMM"!!!! and with your color scheme.....can you say head turner....i'm sure people turn thier heads now...but with a 21" up front even Ol' granny would take a peek....
I love the look of your bike and that 21" does look good but does it bother you that your bike and ELSUPERMO look all most similar? No disrespect both of your bikes look GREAT and obviously you two have the same great tast. I am just trying to decided what to do cuz once you slam that fender it makes it hard to got back!!!!
Hell I am still trying to figure out if I want apes or beach bars!!!!

i see our bikes and we have nothing in commen except front wheel circumfrence. not even spoke/width are the same. And why would it bother me if my bike looked like someone else's or visa versa. Because it doesn't at all..Im still yet to see one in MO. that had a simular style as to mine. I dont know why your so stuck on a 21" wheel as far as everybody has them..There are maybe around 20-30 deluxes/fatboys/heritages with a 21" up front on this site compared to 34234246 billion with a stock look up front. As you said before "outside the box" ...well a 21" up front is "outside the box" ...We are all giving our own opinions of our styles of which we like thats all. And if you want different than anybody around??? HELL paint your bike pink. And drop your front fender.... then you would be unique...make sure to post some pics when you do. no disrespect...
When i got my bike new in Sept. 08 the first thing i did was to look at pics from the internet. Then i made a list of what i liked/disliked. Thats what make these forums great...are ideas...If you like a dropped fender then hell drop your fender. Its ur bike....
I like bikes with all sizes of wheels up front 16" - 21" ....hell "chromedome" bike is runnen a 16" up front and not lowered up front and i think he has one of the top 10 deluxes around.
