I tried looking up TRat and I could not find this member. I was hoping that he had pictures of his bike.
Yep I think when I have the fender and forks off putting on the chrome front end I will need to drop in the lowering springs and and chop the taps off the fender.
I cut off the tabs right inside the fender. That way you dont have to mess with removing the brackets and repainting. Just use a cutoff wheel and they come off easy. Then I tapes the water hose in the center of the tire right on top to keep an even clearance. After that, tape up the sides of the fender, slide it back between the forks and use a pen to mark the spot for the new holes through the fork legs.
I used c clamps to clamp the fender in place. It was a little challenging getting it perfectly straight. Matter of fact, I had to slot the holes a bit to get it to line up right without the tabs. The forks have such a big mounting are that it completely covers the holes.

Thanks!!! Man this is a mod I say needs to be in the "Cheap DIY Mod" thread! This cost nothing but some time and a steady hand.
Thanks I think I will be doing this when I change out my forks!
I know the fenders are different. Iam guessing it just the brackets that are different. He can still check out native customs. To see if they lower the softail fender also.
Just put a 21" wheel on it and call it a day. It will look much better. Well worth the cash.
AGREED!!!! I still say a dropped fender looks out of place...If it looked right you would see them everywhere but you don't. Only a few around. that fender idea!

21" rim does look good, then again you kind of hit it right on the nose. You see them everywhere and every swing dick seems to be doing it. I love the look do not get me wrong, but what about the first guy who shoved a 21" rim in a FLST fender. He had something that look different.
We buy bikes and say we want to make them our own but then we make them look like every other bike. Some are so damn worried about what every one will think or what they are doing.
I do not know, I have thought about the 21" rim slammed front and back with fishtails but hell that is the standard norm. I am trying to step back and think outside of the box.
I am for sure going to get my bike repainted but keep the copper and black just do it in another style. Maybe a copper fad to black. May or may not keep my fish tails...
I think this winter while I am busted up I may be doing some staring at the bike to decided if the 21" is for me or outside of the box.
