Hey all. I just now got around to swapping out my rubber riser bushings for polyurethane (I put on 16" apes in the spring). The two riser bolts were hand tight! They were tight enough to slightly compress the lock washers.... guess that's all that was holding 'em in! I didn't check them when I had the bars off. I guess that's something they overlooked at the dealer (when the bike was checked out for the showroom floor and at the 1000 mile service I paid top doller for).
So check yours! Wouldn't be cool to lose your bars!
I always check my bolts, if you don't believe me, CLICK HERE
Wow 128! That could have turned out real bad!
I do my own wrenching. I did the Ape install (just didn't think to check the riser bolts, thought they should be tight).
I just amazed me that those bolts have probably been loose since the bike was pulled from a crate and prepped. I've ridden a year.... 6000 miles, with the handlebars hanging on by a thread!
