Default heritage classic v. fatboy?

im checking on a loan now, hopefully i'll know soon. anyway, i cant decide between a heritage classic or fatboy. i know they are basically the same, however the way they come stock for the money is my issue. i like the look of the fatboys wheels mostly. i would have to buy saddle bags, windshield, and a back seat bracket ( i already have a backseat and backrest), for what i want. the heritage comes stock with the bags, windshield and back seat set up. but i dont like the chrome looking studs on the seats and bags. i would rather the fatboy wheels and i dont like the heritage front wheel fender. i suppose my question is this; does it make for sense or cost less $$$ to get fatboy and add up, or get a heritage and change out?

For the money it makes sense to get the Heritage, but it sounds to me if you go with the Heritage over the Fatboy you will probably regret it because your getting something you don't really want. Go for the Fatboy and start making your own, the way you would build one if it were your factory. Which ever you choose just have fun with it.

You may also want to test ride both. I had an '02 Fatboy and now a Heritage. I couldn't go for more than a couple of hours on the Fatboy and can ride the Heritage all day.

I didn't like the studs on the Heritage bags either...and thought about doing the same thing, buying a fatboy and adding everything myself. I ended up buying the Heritage and don't regret it at all. The studs have really grown on me and I like them now.

I didn't like the studes on the Heritage either. I've since added studs (passanger seat, tank cover, windshield bag, tour pack). My taste changed, and very rapidly after taking delivery of the Heritage. For the difference in cost and function, you can't beat the heritage.

I am with "06fltci" the Heritage is the bike for touring. Much better seat, lots of storage room, you can add pipes without modifying the passenger footpeg or boards, comes with all the goodies.

If you are looking for "cool" the Fatboy has that look. The wheels are not great in a crosswind. I have friends that complain that the wind in the Columbia River area blows them around quite a bit due to the closed wheels.

If you tour I would suggest the Heirtage, better handlebars, better seat, much more luggage room and easier to add pipes.
For a city bike the Fatboy is sweet, same as the deluxe. My humble opinion.

But of course, Harley is for the individual and you have to please you first!

If you don't like the look of the heritage except the studs then get the Deluxe. Or you could get A road king classic. If you don't like retro than get the Fat Boy. Or another option is the Road King Custom. Not as retro comes with windshield and saddle bags. You aren't going to get very big saddle bags on a Stock Fat Boy because of the shotgun style exhaust pipes.

remember.....................girls love studs, even if you are married ! The oohs and ahs I get for my H-Classic are sweet. Take of f the bags, dress it up with axle covers, add sopme grips, pegs and you have a nice fatboy look!

Went through the same dilemma and ended up with Heritage.....No regrets. Stripe it down and you have a Fatboy with lace wheels and a more comfortable ride.
