Glad you've got a sense of humor, but it ain't a compliment...

Sorry, but that "good 'ol days" stuff has gotten lame. You want to beat the crap out of yourself riding 20,000 miles a year, year round without a windshield, have at it. That makes you neither tough nor cool, just resistant to change. Are you still adjusting points on your bike? *****. Running tubes in bias-ply tires? Candy ***.

Funny how "let the rider decide" only applies if you're in lockstep with a certain set of beliefs.

Meanwhile, I'll be wearing my heated gear, my full-face helmet and riding on my Night Train with a windshield when it's well below freezing while others are sitting in front of their computer bitching about who the real biker is.

Enjoy, I know I will.

Gotta love this place...reminds me of the experiment in human nature my psych prof demonstrated back in college...

Walk into a crowded public place and loudly say "Hey *******" ...

Only the guy who turns around and acknowleges you will get pissed off... ; - )

I use a 16" tinted Windvest, that does a decent job at keeping bugs and crap from hitting me in the face and cutting down on the blast at highway speeds. It also blocks rain, so that it doesn't feel like getting hit in the face by thousands of needles when I get caught in a downpour.

If you do nothing but barhop, don't waste the money on a windshield. If you plan on going on long trips, they make the ride far more comfortable, and you'll find you're much fresher when you get to where you're going.
Hey Rthomp, I like that windshield. What brand and model is that exacy one on your bike? Does it also cut out the wind on your head, so you don't bobble or get a stiff neck from resisting it? Thanks,

Dale

NT,
I do love your sig and you are right in many ways.

I do love to ride and that's all that matters. Been riding since I was 12, just turned 52...and love every minute I'm riding.

In the end all that matters to me anymore is being able to hold my kids and wife and tell them I love them. I've lost too many before their time....once they're gone you can't hold them anymore.

Ride safe my friend.

Just don't spend the money to buy the windshield new or see if you can try a bike with one on it. I got a tall HD quick detach. With my Tall Boy seat I am right in the "bobblehead" zone with my half or full face helmet. Traded with someone on this board for a shorter one. A bit better, but not much. I'm sure I'll end up with a used sport shield for the longer trips.

It's a 16" tinted Windvest, I forget the model #. They've got various brackets to attach to different bar & riser combinations. It is absolutely not as effective as a full shield or a fairing, but once you've got it adjusted right, it deflects most of the wind over your head. On an 8 hour highway trip, I might have one or two bugs or rocks hit my face, versus one or two a minute without it. The difference in my back and shoulders is huge. This spring, I've got a 1300 mile (each way) trip I'm planning. It'll be no problem doing it in two days, and I won't be wiped out when I get there.

When I do get there, in about 2 minutes I can remove the saddlebags and the shield and do my local riding.

I got mine at coolwindshields.com, they've got an application chart there.

The HD quick connect works and looks good.

I just found I dont want a ws on this bike.

If you want mine, $200 with all hardware. It should fit, I think we have the same folks.

email me for a picture.

Mike
