yes I was incorrect about the chain size, 1" is probably larger than I knew. I suppose it would be easier if yall knew the area I was describing. Yes I agree, messing with another man's anything deserves an eye for an eye. If you think I overreacted, I suppose its a matter of opinion. Ego?! Im an active duty Marine! Where do you think I got it? Sure, I was parked under a bicycle awning and if he had a problem with it he could have contacted the MP's, as I could have. I do respect all of your opinions and next time I will do a better job at hunting this guy down.
So you are saying that all Marines are EGOTISTICAL ???? I don't think that is part of the code. I was in Submarines and had quite a few Marines as buddies and none of them were egotists. Just your normal dudes. Maybe the corps has changed since '87. I sure hope not. And if you actually did do this to his bike you better hope he isn't hunting you down.
try reading it again...really. You were a submariner, in 17 years havent known to many Marines that have been down in a submarine. Im not going to sit here and define a Marine's attitude to you - you could have taken that route. Sure things change, 2 major wars later? You gotta ask? I'll just stick to the threads about the scoots.
LOL, I hope the OP is joking. A bicycle tire was touching your peg...... Come on man, it's not like his bike was leaning against your bike scratching your tank up or something. Now that would be something to be pissed about. What's sad is you probably scratched up his frame by wrapping that chain around it.
I normally park my scoot under an awning where they park bicycles at my work (military base), works out great since their is never any bicycles there except for today, as I turned the corner to hop on my scoot, I felt all the blood rush to my face as I witnessed someones bicycle front tire leaning on my right highway peg. Immediate thoughts of kicking the bicycle frame in half came to mind but I immediately walked away to gain self control....still in a blind fury I found a 1" chain about 3 feet long and got a padlock (threw the key away) and wrapped/weaved the chain about 10 times around the frame and bicycle rack....quickly rode away with a big smile on my face
WTF are they thinking? Either way, I was one of the last to walk out of the building so someone had fun trying to chew through a chain on a friday night...hopefully, **** stick learned a lesson. Anyone have any weird issues with peeps f'n with your ride while away?
I normally park my motorcycle where I not supposed to, any today, somebody park there bicycle where they ARE supposed to, and it made me SOO MAD I had to act just like a big baby!!!!!
WAH WAH WAH
Here's the worlds smallest violin playing "My heart bleeds for you" In stereo

So if I read this and the first post correctly, what your saying is "today's Marines are self centered A-HOLES", sorry gonna have to call BS on that.
Sometimes motorcycle parking on military bases is in short supply and those nice covered bike racks become the defacto MC parking. Its easier to get money for bicycle racks (a healthy activity) vs. MC parking (something the military wants to discourage). I've parked in covered bicycle parking hundreds and hundreds of times and its very common on military bases. So, RocketRocker wasn't wrong to park there.
Now, freaking out on the bicycle is another story...

Nope BS! I am sorry but 18 years in the Navy and I never have parked in a bicycle parking area. What would we all do if we went to pull our cage into a parking spot to see a bicycle on its kick stand in the middle of the spot and few yards away is a bicycle rack.
I have always known the other riders at my commands and have always parked in suck a way that we could get two sometimes three scoots in one spot. If someone has an issue with no motorcycle parking they need to talk to the Command Master Chief, TOP, or Command Master Sergeant about taking a few car spots and having them repainted for motorcycles. If you are wanting front row parking or covered parking then you may have issues. RHIP, those in the military need no further explanation. I myself have my own assigned parking spot but I have no issue letting my Junior Sailors share my spot when I do not drive in my truck in.
The fact that the OP has 17 years in and reacted the way he did is by far holding to the Marine Corps Core Values!!! Not to mention at 17 years he should have some rank and their is nothing like LEADING BY EXAMPLE!
Sorry off of my box now but I hold all Senior Enlisted and Officers regardless of branch of service to a much higher standard!
That said the OP came back and said lets stick with post on scoots and I say Amen!

Nobody cares if you don't like it. I was only making the point that parking MC in covered bicycle racks is common practice on military bases and the OP was not doing anything unusual by parking there. Check out the racks on Yokota AB and you will see a lot more MC than bicycles.
