well? has to be home made, i need one for the rifle as well as the fishing pole. i get strange looks riding to the range with sks strapped on my back not not been stopped.
I made the trunk. Cut a pattern out of paper then the leather and started hand sewing. Its not rocket science but required a little thought. Your comments are starting to give me some ideas. It will probably look more like a longer leather case with a fitted inside and mounted above one of the saddle bags. It will be one of my winter mods and I'll post a picture when I get something together for your thoughts / comments. Thanks again.
The saddle skirting I got from Tandy Leather. The oil tan stuff came from the scrap sale bin at MacPherson Leather. Both places stock all the hardware too. The size of the trunk is working out pretty good. It is about 18" wide, 12" or so deep and the same tall. I retired about two years ago and am having to much fun to go into business or back to work. Once I get a couple of other projects done, I'll dig into the rifle case. I got a couple of ideas that are slowly coming together.
I never thought of that, its not a bad idea.
But still I have some reservations about how the local police might see it.
And just how you go about mounting something like that so it doesn't stick out the back or sides too far or up too high.
Maybe set it up on the front forks like the military used on the WLA's or WLC's during WWII?
A rifle? Your putting me on right?
I hope your pulling my leg, but if your really serious I would check around and see if you can get a rifle scabbard made for a horse saddle.
I think you can get one with a flap to cover the butt end, cause your gonna need it. Otherwise the first cop that sees you riding down the street with a rifle hanging off the bike is gonna have a heart attack. Then he's gonna fit you out with a nice shiny set of stainless steel bracelets.
Depends on what state you live in, out in the West (excluding the People's Republic of California) most cops wouldn't arrest you. If you went to pull it out, you could expect to take a couple of rounds to the chest.
