Is the bike suddenly running poorly and did you look on the back of the air cleaner cover?
Bike is running great. The wire just wasn't hanging there before I left. There must be a whole the plastic screw goes into. I just can't find it. It is good to know that it is not used. I'll look again in the daylight for it and if not I'll just zip tie it out of the way.
its part of the international models, and connected to the air intake somewhere. If you repalce the air intake on international models you need to have a plug that fits in there to prevent the ECM from throwing fault codes.
If you look near the exhaust at the swing arm you may see a similar connector that would steer the active exhaust system also only found on international models.

I have heard a rumor that its also used on bike's that are built for sale in the People's Republic of Kalifornia.
After riding today I noticed a wire hanging down behind the air filter. Where does it go? It has a wire tie with what looks like a plastic screw.
Much appreciated. Thanks!
I noticed the same thing after my 1,000 and 10,000 mile checkup and adjustment. It has no affect on performance. It's just a holder, and I think it's just a maintenance convience. The plug (screw side) presses into the plastic backside of the air cleaner. If you have small hands you can press it in without removing the air cleaner. Hope this helps.
