Default Head Torque

Hi...I'm working on an '87 Softail. The top end was leaking real bad so I pulled off the rockerboxes to replace the gaskets. While it's apart I want to check the head torque.I know harley wants this done by the template method, but is there a specific number so I don't have to loosen the heads to do this?? The '84 is 24-26 lb-ft. what's the diff between that year and the '87??. Any help will help...
Thanks

I got help from the classic evo section. This problem is solved
Thanks
