Has anyone installed, themselves, either Porker/Vance & Hines with the Fuel Pak, or Cobra with their FI-200R? I Talked with Tom Trobaugh at Porker and he said----->
Jon,
Thanks for your e-mail. Yes, you can keep your stock passenger footpegs with all four of our exhaust systems that will fit your 2006 Deluxe, which includes, Switchblades, Jackknives, Two-Into-One and Hatchets. In each case, the pipes are positioned beneath the footpeg.
Porker pipes are made by Vance & Hines. Vance & Hines makes a fuel management system called Fuelpak, which plugs in-line with your bike’s ECU. Vance & Hines has completed map settings for all of the Porker pipes. You can learn more about the Fuelpak at vanceandhines.com.
Sincerely,
Tom Trobaugh
And then I talked with Mike Lance at Cobra and he said--->
"You do not have to change anything on the bike to run the 2 into 1 pipe. The
HP comes with the billet tip. The sound is the same for both style pipes.
You can install the pipe and the Fi-2000R yourself. If you need to talk to
us call 714-692-8180. Thanks for asking Cobra, ride safe."
Yo Jonny D how ya doin? The pipes I think its up to you , we can say what we like but when it comes down to it ........ its up to you ! Have you seen or heard any of them to help you figure out which one you really like.
JonnyD- I think all the two into one systems will work on the Deluxe. Because the one pipe runs low on the frame below where the passenger peg connects to the frame. It would also allow you to install larger saddlebags. Such as the neat ones sold by American Eagle Leatherworks. But cost is about 1K for the bags. They ain't cheap.
I just ordered the V&H BigShot Staggered pipes from Eastern Perf Cycle. Great price at $469.95 and free shipping. Ordered the V&H fuelpak, $213, to go with it and have already purchased the SE air cleaner, $139.
I decided to go the cheap route and do the work myself. Folks on this forum claim the fuelpak is a 20 min job to install. I know it will take me a lot longer to figure it out but I am handy and feel confident that I can get it done.
Just a note: The 2 into 1 pipes usually produce the most hp gain for some reason. But, they don't look as cool! The V&H BigShots are slick. I did not know they made Porker. I did read that they make the Pythons too. Ceaper versions of the BigShots maybe, I don't know that for sure.
My install will require that I buy the Heirtage footboard brackets to make my Harley Deluxe passenger footboards work with the V&H pipes. I have ordered them and the cost is $137.
Thats about $1,000 with me doing all the work! At Harley you could add $600-700 more for the same setup. Hope this helps.
I have to differ with your opinion on the 2-1 looks. I have a 2005 Deluxe and just removed the V&H Big SHots and installed the V&H 2-1 Pro Pipe. The performance difference is unbelievable and I much perfer the looks and for sure the sound over the Big Shots. The Big Shots were not as deep or throaty as the pro pipes. I have had both and strongly recommend the 2-1 pipes. I have heard the D&D Fatcats are even better. I will post a pic and give me your opinion. Ride safe.
