Are all the years 2000-2006 the same width? My new 150 rear tire is a bit too close on the pulley side. It is definitely going to rub the fender while riding. Suggestions on moving it over a bit on the pulley side? here is a pic of a nickel between the fender and teh tire. Guess the Avon 150's are a little wider than the Dunlop and Metzler 150's as I have run both in the past without problem.
Someone suggested loosening the fender and strut mounting bolts and tugging to the right and tightening back down. Do you think this will actually work? There is plenty of room on the brake side.
Is it that tight on both sides? If you have room on the other side you could loosen your fender struts and adjust fender to tire. Or maybe check out tire alignment.
It's only like that on the pulley side. the other side is fine. I still don't see how loosening the struts will move the fender. Alignment may not be absolutely perfect, but it seems close enough. I'll take a look a this first.
Yea my fender was kicked over to the right and my tire was aligned correctly so i just loosened struts and retightened to wheel now it looks much better.
But in your case....are you using same spacers? That severe out of wack looks like wheel alignment..
i actually loosened all of them and tighted one at a time a little at a time. While i held fender in correct alignment
The four that are connected to the frame, if you tighten one side down you will see how it kicks your fender to one side. Give it a try. But like i said i loosened all bolts and worked my way around a little at time.
My fender was off center last summer and the tire actually rubbed on the fender, not good... The belt wear looked great and seemed aligned correctly. I first tried BlkCrme's way several times but fender would not center. Ended up grabbing under the fender in the middle of fender strut and towards rear of fender strut under the fender, and placing one knee on swing arm for leverage and to keep bike from falling over. Yanked fender several times to center it and it has stayed that way.

So does your fender look twisted now from bending it?
My fender was kicked over about a 1" to one side. So i took it to a dealer and had them to do warrenty work on it to adjust it properly. So i watched to see how they did it. It was just fender strut adjustment.
But then a week later i put about a 4" scratch on the top of my fender so i had to remove it to get repainted. On re-install i noticed my fender was kicked over again do to fender/strut mis-alignment. So i just loosened fender struts and did a realignment. Which worked out great. I also noticed if i over tightened bolts fender would twist to one side. And tightened bolts all the way tight one at a time the fender also kicked over.
You also may try loosening struts putting a chim on both sides of tire then retighten struts. This could be better than holding the fender straight. I haven't tried this but it may work...
