Default Thunderheader and heatshields

I was thinking I'd order up a couple heatshields for the Thunderheader 2-1 I just bought. Would it be easier to wait for the shields to get here before I put the pipe on? Looks like it'd be nearly impossible to mount the rear shield with the pipe on the bike. Anyone have experience with the Thunderheader and mounting it with shields on or putting them on afterwards? This will be my first time mounting a full exhaust and don't want to have to pull the whole thing back off. Thanks!

Chris

You may be able to mount the shields first but generally the shields go on after the pipe is installed. I've never had any problems. Things can get a bit tight but just relax and take your time. Enjoy the pipe.

Thanks AZ. I didn't want to have to wait on heatshields to arrive to get the pipe on. It looks like have all 3 shields.... I've found the upper front and rear shields at Dennis Kirk, but haven't located the collector cover yet. Maybe I missed it in my search.

Try this: http://www.thunderheader.net/heat.shtml They have a dealer locator that should solve your problem.

TH offers 3 heat-shields, 2 for the curved individual pipes (which I got) and one for the "Y" part (which I discarded, I don't like it and saved money on that piece). The heat-shield that I have can be installed after the pipe has been mounted.

Mimo.
