Default Heritage Bars

So what made you change from the wide glide bars to the JP cycle bars?

I'm mainly trying to get the most height w/out putting on apes and having to redo everything(using stock wires, cables, etc). Trying to get height and comfort the old fashioned way......CHEAP!

With the Wideglide bars I used 3" risers to get them as high as I could without changing everything. With the JP bars I could go back to stock risers and have the height, comfort, and I liked the stock riser look better.....

Those do look good. I think you sold me on those. Stock cables, wires, and risers......sounds like what I'm looking for thanks! Looks like your throttle cables and brake line are maxed out, are they? I guess they still work fine though right?

Everything works fine and notice the bars are all the way over to the left. I wouldn't try to go taller with stock cable and wires......

I'm wanting to go this route; just a little nervy about having to straighten the throttle cable elbows, so they will make it - I'm wondering if they're not pulling where they go under the tanks.

I believe your speaking of Harley's Mini apes that came stock on the wide glides.

I believe the stock heritage bars are 8 inch. the mini apes I believe are 10. I put these on a softail standard once without having to change any of the wiring or cables. I would go to the dealer and ask about them. If you get a chance to look at a wide glides risers you might like them over using the Heritage ones. The mini apes are the beefy ones 1 1/4. Your going to want to keep the rises low though to accomodate for not changing anything.

No, I was referring to the J&P bars that FLSTCI posted about - you can see his throttle cable bends looking a bit straightened there...which of course made me wonder just HOW tight this is.
Seems like a lot of us just want to come 3-4" higher and a little bit back, which 4" curved risers would do, but I'd prefer the mini-ape look of these bars.
...and of course, stock cabling.
Thanx for the tip about the wideglide risers, I'll take a looksee.
edit: hmmm...googling the wg risers, you can't figure out what is stock height and what is custom. I still think I want to do the bars, as that may give a bit more radical look to the bike than just raising the stock bars. But I'd hate to lose the hand position of the stockers; they ARE a good bar.

I used '09 Heritage bars on my '04 ( 16's in my sig)and didn't have to change anything. I rerouted the throttle cables and had to bend that hard line on the master cyl. You can use the '09 brake hose and it looks alot cleaner. Didn't even move the tank.
