Default No Front Fender

Hey i have an 07 night train, and wanna upgrade rims and tires before spring. I wanna go with a 120/70/21 for the front on a 21x3.5 rim with no front fender. Has anyone removed the front fender and left it off and rode, does it make the bike less stable and if so by how much, or is it about the same ride as with it on. I luv the look of no front fender but dont wanna hurt how well the bike ride, i wanna make it handle better with a slightly wider front tire, any help would be great thanks

Handling does not change, but the moment you hit a puddle or some loose sand, you realise why there are Front fenders....

Replaced my 21" with a Heritage 16" and was running with no fender for a while. Got lots of great comments on the looks. Driving in any moisture coated my full face helmet with grime. And driving over gravel faster than 1st gear was too much. I got a Fat Bob fender and stuck it on there.

I was always under the impression that with no front fender your wheel would bounce more as there is no fender to keep it down.

I'm just F....ing with ya dude.

looks ok but sux in the real world....I rode without one while I was waitin for my new one...The bike got significantly dirtier, can only imagine it would prematurely age the bike over time...

I rode a rigid with a custom springer for 5 years back in the 70's. There was no provision for even mounting a front fender. That was the style back then. i ran a 275-19. You learn to ride with your hands on the bars and your head way out to the side to keep your face from catching water in the rain. Other than that, not a big deal. I think the paint on the frame tends to get dinged up due to the lack of the fender too.
