thats why i was wondering....
i just recently bought a deuce..
The idle is a bit higher....
the sound through the V&H pipes is completely different than my co workers with a fat boy and the exact pipes.. now i know the baffles could be the difference there... but it does just sound different.. Would there be an easy way to tell if my bike has had any engine work done???
Find a local shop with a Dyno machine. For a small fee they can do a baseline pull for you and see what kind of numbers it's putting out.
That would be a dead givaway whether the cam was stock or not.
I think it's a good deal. Just be sure your getting your money's worth out of the tune by a competent mechanic. I have 204's in my 07' Train that were dealer installed and after the tune the numbers were ok. I found an indy who re-tuned it and he got another 11hp & 9ft.lbs. I think the tune is very, very important. Once you get your bike dialed in, your goin' to be real happy with those 204's.

Thank you Sash, It's nothing I can take personal credit for. When I bought my bike the dealer was having the 103" big bore promo with a new bike purchase. The mechanic who did my bike suggested the cams while he was doing the 103". The tune was ok, but my bike had the decel pop and an off-idle stumble when I cracked the throttle. After learning and becoming more educated, I found the indy. He got rid of the pop, and the throttle response is right there. I'm pulling a 100 ft.lbs. at 2000 rpm. Stock my bikes #'s sucked, 59.32hp & 76.81ft.lbs. So like I said, I think the tune is critical. I hope all goes well for you. Ride Fast and Take Chances.
With the dyno it sounds bout right..Is that a winter special?? if not see if they are going to have one before long,, most shops around here have specials every yr to keep the wrenches busy.
One of the local dealers last feb had a winter package, $850, cams, all parts, new cam bearings, new lifters, and re-dyno tuned my sert again. about $150-200 off reg price,,
U'll love the 204's,,, son has put them in his 07 Deuce and when he traded for his 09 NT he done them again.....come on strong and idle is wicked..
I wonder how those 204's would work with just a 96 and stage 1 with headwork following in a year or so? EFI will be Tmax and autotune. The bike is an 09 Heritage.
Thanks
My 204's are 97/87. The curve is pretty flat and it pulls hard.
Very nice! I like that you can put it in a stock 96TC and then later do a 103 upgrade if you want without buying new cams. Say do the cams this winter and maybe the 103 next.
