Default cam installation labor

I just call my local dealer and ask about cam installation charge, this is for the cams se 204 all gaskets needed and dyno tune 920$ total, plus he offer to come pick up the bike and drop it off after the job is done,I think this is reasonable price....what do you think?

I just got a quote from a reliable Indy shop here in town and they quoted $764 for two S&S cams with the auto compression release and all the trimmings installed. However, I have a Power Commander that automatically adjusts for any moderate engine changes so a dyno would not be necessary.

Mine was right at 600 i had all the parts they gave me 20% off so it ended up being 460 does the 900 include the cam? I think just the labor to change cam was 370

The 204's are a real fussy cam to tune. (They have a lot of advance built into the cam). When I ran them in a 95" on my last bike, all the dealer did was set the AFR, and did not mess with timing.
After taking it to a reputable tuner who did adjust timing, it was like a new bike.

I did enjoy the 204's! Really nice exhaust note too.

Cams $250
Adj Push rod $150
A hand ful of gaskets $20
Dyno tune $300
That leaves $200 for labor.

If they have a competent Dyno Tuner that will be good, but you never really know. I say do it yourself and save a bunch of cash. It's not that hard, just takes a bit of time. However, if you are busy and not mechanically inclined and have the cash why not? I can't stand to lay down close to a grand for something i can do myself. Plus, order your parts and all from Zanotti or Chicago HD for a 20% discount.

Yeah, if you are not into working on it yourself, something about having them pick up the bike and return it, sounds alluring.
