The Shotgun is a one piece unit which is trouble some to me as an engineer in tow ways. First, the one piece unit put far more stress on the swing arm bushings.
Can you explain this further? I have no doubt the Platinum is a good system, but I don't see how the Shotgun can put more stress on the swingarm, since both units use the exact same mounting points, front and rear. If both shock sides are in synch (pushing or pulling together), then there shouldn't be any added stress as far as I can see.
One would think that since they were both designed by the same person that the newer model would be an upgrade over the previous generation. Granted that's not always the case, but the ability to lift the bike if the unit fails is an added plus on the Shotgun side I would say.
Either way I think I would be happy with either system, though I'm probably going with the Shotgun.
I agree, you would think unless one of your shocks was incorrectly adjusted slightly more or less than the other that this would be the only way to cause stress to the bushings. Whether or not there is one piece like shotgun or two shocks like platinum is irrelevant..
Improperly adjusted suspension would be the cause for bushing wear on any set up.
Now, you shotgun guys is there any pogo effect to your rides? Can you adjust rebound or just ride height?

Yes you can...both the Shotgun and platinum bleed/feed will adjust rebound/hieght. As stated they were designed by the same guy. The Shotgun is the updated unit.

I disagree with some staments told here...If a 1-piece shock was so bad then why are most of the big air shock guys going to 1-piece...um could this be because its stronger. Also the Shotgun has less lines for failure. And the Shotgun is rubber mounted
The Shotgun shock has a bigger compressor than the Platinum.
As for dropping the shock for tranny oil...it's not a big deal...5 extra minutes. And how many time do you change this oil a year. Maybe once.
Let me tell you man i have NO poblems lifting and lowering my bike. I also have NO problems adjusting rebound.
And last PRICING...Platinum as low as $1300.00 vs. Shotgun as low as $900.00 another NO brainer.

I'm not sure why 2 single shocks would be better when your rear wheel doesn't articulate like a jeep. If they are adjusted equally there should be no issue.
I will look into pricing of the shotgun shock. I've seen shipping to Canada as high as 165 for shocks which is a gip...Hopefully find them for a decent shipping with USPS..
The shotgun has the same features as the platinum other than the drain issue which I can live with for the lesser price and which seems to be as good or better design..

Shotgun shocks are getting the best forum reviews. Someone was selling them on ebay a while back for $925. You might check with him here.
