I never see automotive jackstands in any motorcycle shop.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think this guy, "travis dasher" is taking the shocks off at home. And then he is taking the shocks to a shop to have them install the longer lowering bolts. I doubt he has a cycle lift at his house like cycle shops own. I have seen a few members here with cycle lifts, but not many. Check out the pictures below of my bike on jack stands. I lifted the bike with a Sears Big Yellow Jack. The jack is in the way of the shocks, so you have to have stands out on the corners out of the way to gain access to your softail shocks.

Here's what I used. Made by BendPak-Ranger, about $75. This is a do-it-at-home jack. I did the front drop and rear shocks with it. As you can see, I also have a shop lift but I prefer the little scissor lift.

I like that jack you have 97FXSTSB. Where did you get it? Here is a picture of my Sears Big Yellow. I would'nt trade it for any other jack. I need a compact jack like yours for bike shows.

Thanks for the link. I'm ordering one. I need a scissors jack like this to clean my tires with at bike shows. My Sears jack is to big to go get out of the trailer and carry back in and use at the shows. This will be perfect.

I've dropped the shocks a few times with the reg. bike jack... It's just a matter of placement... if there a will theres a way!

Mark, Night Rider, Rockyriver, Rick, Thank You for the tips guys, I appreciate it. And BTW I do own a manual and use it for everything, which is why I asked for "TIPS" not "How to do it". Thanks again.

This is the one I use when not using the yellow hydro jack. Pretty good for $60.
