Default lowering kit for crossbones tips

Picked up a set of Arlen Ness lowering bolts for my Crossbones. After using the gift card I got for Christmas I ended up spending $16. I do not have a press so I am planning on taking the rear shocks off and then taking them to a local shop. Anyone have any tips to get the shocks off? Is it pretty straight forward or is it a pain in the ***? Thanks guys

piece of cake...
jack the bike up, and have another jack handy to raise or lower the rear tire as needed.
remove the rear most points first the then the forward

Travis... break the bolt on the back on the ground if you can... short box wrench and a hammer those **** are tight... If you have a good jack and someone to hold the bike and you can get it up higher you can use a longer wrench for leverage. you know you can call anytime also. If you don't have a jack you can borrow mine, my jack is old and nothing fancy but it's here if you need it. Mark

This may be crazy sounding, but you may have to take the left side shock out first, and then the right side. I could not for the life of me get the right out first. I did not have enough clearance it seemed, so I took the left out and then the right had mor room to come out. This was my experience on my Deluxe.

Should have spent part of that gift card on a service manual. It would come in handy for this. But to answer your question, it's pretty easy if you have the tools and a small scissor lift.

I would suggest 4 automotive jackstands to hold the bike up off the floor tall enough to get easy access. However for safety when you break the bolts loose, on the rear shock bolts at the swing arm, have someone hold the bike and steady it ,so you dont pull the bike off the stands onto you.

And how does one get a bike up onto 4 automotive jackstands?

I never see automotive jackstands in any motorcycle shop.

I did mine with the same kit. I slammed her down 2 inches in the rear and have enough thread left to go down proably another inch. Very easy to do. Do a search on here theres a writeup somewhere.
