One more stupid question guys, I am looking at a paitr of mufflers that are slightly blued out, and am wondering if that blue job stuff really works. Will it keep the pipes from blueing again, if I tune it so that its not rich or lean? OR shopuld I start saving for a set of new pipes? Of course I'd like to buy new pipes, but they are quite expensive, when a friend has some for really cheap. Thnaks for answers to my stupid questions.
The answer is Yes! It does work but you have to work hard to make it work. I have been cleaning up a set of SEII mufflers and headpipes that are off a 05 fatboy. I plan to sell the complete set. Most of the Gold tint and blue has come off. Some of the more serious blueing up by the cylinder did not completely come off. So it depends upon the extent of the blueing I guess.
The headpipes are covered by the heat shields on most Harley systems and that is one of the reasons why. Its somewhat of a losing battle to keep it off if you ride the bike a lot.
You make a paste with water and rub the blue spots until your arms are sore and it will slowly clean up. Felt like the Karate Kid, Wax ON, Wax Off! Good Luck!
