Default Fatboy Steering Head Adjustment

I purchased a 2007 Fatboy last fall. I haven’t ridden a motorcycle on the roads in about 20 years. When riding at highway speeds (70mph) and recovering from wind sheer, I would get a slight wobble. After reading the articles in this form I assumed it might be my steering head bearing. I did the fall away test and the distance between fall away points is probably double what the manual recommends. I would have thought that a bit tighter would make the bike more stable. Does anyone have any advice for a new rider?

You can tighten up the the steering head bolt a bt and see if that helps. A torque wrench is the proper way to do this. Removing the bars will allow the torque wrench to fitove the bolt. Unscrew the round cap on top of the bolt to access it.

I did a short version of the fall away adjustemnt. Left all the cables attached and tightened the head bolt about 1/4 turn, fender would still fall in both directions. Had a clunk going over bumps at slower speeds, no more clunk now.

Be sure to check tire pressure tread wear. On my bikes that is the most common problem when they start to handle funny, wobble, tracking the road ect.

Thanks for the replies. I've checked the tire pressure and there doesn't seem to be any abnormal tire wear
