Nice thing about walking out is you get to walk back in again. It can be adicting though, I bought three bikes in two years. Settled on the Softail and can't wait to put the finishing touches on it...before i see another one I like better. So many bikes..so little time.
I am killing myself for having to sell my 06 Softail. But it needed to be done to buy my house. I couldn't stay out of the softail game for too long so I picked up an 04 that needed a bit of cleanup cheap. Now for the customizing. Can't wait. It is an addiction!!!!!!
Best of luck with your new ride whatever it may be!
Time to start looking again. The bike you want is out there waiting for you I guarantee it. In '06 they changed to the 200mm tire if you're looking for the bigger tire. As for my standard, it's not any more either. Added a 2007 Fatboy fender on the the rear, mustang seat and tank bib, Leatherpro detachable bags, 2007 Softail Custom sissy bar, Ness forward control extensions and HD vintage grips. Like alot of people have said, you've got to make it your own. Good luck in your hunt for your bike.
I own a 2006 softtail standard which is no longer standard. I absolutely love it. Like many have said the possibilities with this bike are endless. I have added too many things to list all of them, but some of the most significant include: Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggard pipes, chrome engine kit, and 14 inch Wild Ones Chubby apes. Sorry to hear about the bike that you had wanted being sold. Keep looking their out there.
Woops, forgot to give an update on this post. The softail was sold out from under me the day I planned to buy. I was quite upset and spent the next two weeks looking at bikes that just didn't feel right or required a lot of work to fit my needs.
I finally bought a bike, but she is the opposite of what I had planned, and my choice surprised even myself. Here she is...
