With a trickle charger it may never say fully charged however with the operation instructions it should say if it is automatic meaning it should shut itself off preventing a overcharged battery,if you do not have the instuctions I would disconect to be on the safe side.
I'd disconnect a trickle charger after the battery is charged. HOWEVER, a battery tender is just that - it will keep the battery charged automatically.
If it is just a trickle charger and not a battery tender you should remove it after it has charged.
When I used a trickle charger, on a rarely used project car, I unplugged the light from my garage door opener and screwed in an adapter that had an electric outlet and you screwed the bulb into the end. I plugged the trickle charger into it.
It only costs a few bucks. When ever the garage door opened or closed, it activated the trickle charger, for the amount of time the light stayed on.
