Default Need tank for paint. What models will work?
Hey all. I need your infinite wisdom! I have an 09' Crossbones and need a gas tank so I can send my tins out to French Kiss Kustoms for paint. Is there a certain model and year(s) that are universal on Softtails that will work on my bike? I've been playing the waiting game to find a Bones tank on Ebay, but I'm tired of waiting.

any 08 plus softail tank will work. 08 plus thats the magic number

That is correct, 2008 and newer. I called a dealer today and he looked up part numbers and fitment. He checked the fuel sending unit and they changed part numbers in 2008 and told me the sending unit is a little different on 2008 and newer. All FL tanks will work, FX will not.

Oops, just looked at the tabs, and I don't believe it will work. Sorry.

fxst, fxstb, and fxstc tanks will work on the crossbones along with the flstf tanks! They all use the same tank
