Default 09 crossbones

I want to put an 8 1/2 arlen ness legacy rear fender on my 09 crossbones. The fitment specs says it will fit an 08 but doesnt have 09 listed. What is the location of parts differ from an 08 crossbones to an 09?

It should be the same. It may be that they have not updated their specs as of yet. You can always call Ness at (925)479-6350. I think that is the sales number but they can connect you to whoever may know. I have always found them to be quite helpful.

It had 08 stamped on it because the parts were manufacured in 08. Lead time in manufacturing can be as long as 5 years for some parts. Not very common for sure. But having been in the OEM automobile parts business. I can tell you. They are working several years ahead of the game. Even if there is a engineering change. It could have been produced at a earlier time. Keep in mind....The OEMs don't manufacture many parts. They get them from suppliers. And simply assemble them into "their" product line. They have their specs which are stricter than aftermarket for the most part. Hench the higher cost in most situations. Not to disrespect the aftermarket guys or anything. But quality control tends to be stricter with OEM. The OEMs tend to require certain certifications from the suppliers. My job, when I was in the supply side, was to insure our people followed the steps to keep us certified. I worked the floor of our plants. My boss worked keeping the engineering side up to spec. We frequently did joint audits to ensure complience. We had more trouble from our domestic plants than we did our foreign plants. Go figure that one.
