Tank Lift Questions
OK, I am thinking the Crossbones would look good with about a 2" tank lift.
1. What all, besides the mounting points for the front of the tank, is involved with doing the lift?
2. How does it effect the number of miles you can get on a tank?
3. Are there any adverse affects from running the tank lift?
Thanks in advance!!!!

I've played around with a tank lift but couldn't figure out how to make the increased gap between the front of the tank and backbone look good. My new build is beggin' for a tank lift. But what to do about that gaping hole??!!
Check out my sig pic I have a 2 1/4" tanklift. I used the spacers from some 88 cent u-bolts from lowes. You'll probably need a longer cross over fuel line also. There also plenty of kit available.
As stated before tank still holds the same amount of fuel but the fuel guage just isn't accurate any more. Just use the mileage.

i think the tank lift looks good but......i think you need to have the decals redone on the tank,(harley-davidson) the lines dont look right, if you look at story's bike he has the lift but because he does not have decals it looks like the lines work...just my 2cents
I have a 2" lift on mine. I cut a piece of rubber from a rubber doormat to fill the hole at the front of the tank. A piece of leather could also be used. Just attatch it to the rubber boot on the front of the frame with cable ties. I did this as a temporary measure - planning on either welding a plate on when I have my tins painted, or maybe do something with a leather tank panel that runs from the back of the tank, right under the console and down the front of the tank.

I have a 2" or 3" adjustable kit... I tried it both ways set at 3" it looked freaky wierd... I wouldn't go over 2" on a tank lift you'll see the square section of the frame and all the wiring. Some people like it on my bike and some people don't but thats the way it goes with just about anything we do to our bikes. The one thing I luv is that if I need to work on some thing like Trottle cables, handle bar wires, and headlight wires I don't have to move the tank back I can reach everything just like it is.A kit should come with everything you need. Don't do it with a full tank and have a extra set of hands around it'll help. I did it by myself and lost a lot of gas... lol As for the rubber piece in front the tank it's history out of sight out of mind.
The NT is mine 2" tank lift

I put a 2" lift on mine a few years ago. I bought all supplies at depot. Very easy to make yourself. As for the gap in the tank, I welded a small square of metal to the tank and then filled the seams. I sanded it down and sprayed. That was the only thing that really took some time but it looks like it should and no one would ever know it was filled. I dont have any great pics right now but here are a couple.
