Default corbin seat for deluxe

I recently bought a corbin seat for my 2005 softail deluxe. I paid close to $500 dollars for it and was excited to get it. The seat was a bad fit. You have to bolt a pin to the top of the oil tank which is part of the locking system for this seat. The hand rail from you original seat is bolted to a rare fender bracket which corbin supplies and then to the fender strut. I finally got the plate that is attached to the bottom of the seat which goes over the pin on the top of the oil tank to line up and snap into the lock position which is a must or the seat wont sit down where it belongs. to do this i had to move the adjustment bracket at the back of the seat all the way forward so the pin and locking plate would line up. By doing this the leather skirt would never fall right around the hand rail it was always pressing against it which made it look bad it is supposed to lay nice and flat and look clean. I spent hours trying to make it fit right and finally gave up. The fit was bad and so was the design. I sent the seat back to the dealer I bought it from. I was wondering if any one else has bought this seat and if they had similar problems. Mike D

I have a Corbin seat on my 05 Deluxe, and nothing you stated makes any sense to me. Mine is a perfect fit and I have no idea what brackets and pins your talking about are. A: No pin in oil tank B: Handrail on my original seat is untouched C: I don't know what adjustment your talking about. I think you have the wrong seat. When I get home where my laptop with pictures are, I will send you pictures if you like. I love my Corbin seat.

You defiantly have a different seat every thing I wrote was a fact I bought the solo seat made especially for the softail deluxe you can look it up on there site. It was a horror show full of problems this seat has a key to remove it when the key is turned it releases the plate that goes over the pin mounted to the oil tank by way of a cable. They give you a bracket that goes over the studs that come out of your rare fender for the original seat the hand rail mounts to it and then to a setup they give you which months to the fender strut. Believe me the design was terrible.

Everyone at the dealer has raved about the corbin seats...others have said they are too hard. That's the first time I have heard that the seat is not a direct fit for any bike (offer by corbin for a particular bike)...does seem like you have the wrong seat.

I live close enough to Hollister to run up and have a custom made which i have considered because I want to keep my seat rail, but haven't wanted spend the money yet and I'm still playing with the stock seat. A review of one would be great....I'm still looking for the make my back happy seat.

I hope you find out you ordered the right one and they sent you the wrong one because that seat is one of my next mods and don't like hearing those kind of problems with a 500 dollar seat....Please keep us posted.......And I hope they make it right....

Iready - Is your seat the one specifically made for the deluxe or is it one of the standard solo's???? Thanks...

I had a Corbin Close Solo for short guy like me and it's a perfect fit. The only thing I don't like is the styling .... doesn't look right with the Nostalgic look of the Deluxe, so with that in mind, I bought another OEM seat to get the other one shave for easy reach. Now I have 3 seat.

I definitely had the correct seat the design is terrible could have been made easier to mount. I guess they thought the locking device was important all it did was make the line up a pain. Believe me I spend hours trying to make it right I loved the look and i am very disappointed

Ater seeing the link he provided, I have an entirely different seat. I do not like the looks of the studded seat especially on a Deluxe. I love the seat I have, and there are zeros issues and I highly recommend it. Here are some pics I just took, they are not very good as it is night time here. I have good pics if you are intersted. My regular laptop is in our company IT department getting updated. It has most of my pics on it.

To all who are interested. My facts are correct and what I have told you about this seat is true. This is the seat made for the deluxe by corbin its listed as softail deluxe seat and has its own page on the corbin site. when i first seen this seat i had to have it. looked like the perfect seat that i wanted for my deluxe i felt it went really nice with my black and white deluxe i bought it with the studs and it really looked good on the bike but the skirt would not fall right around the hand rail it was pressing against it and looked bad especially at a cost of close to $500.00. I tried every adjustment it had and there was no way it was ever going to look as it is supposed to. I called corbin and sent them pictures. I bought it from a California dealer not direct because I was able to save $50.00. The seller suggested that I send it back for a refund rather than going back and fourth trying to get it right I agreed. I had read horror stories about others who had bought a corbin seat and had a bad fit and they said corbin wanted to know nothing about a refund. I was offered one so i jumped at it. Weather it was just a shabby employee or it was made on a monday it was not fitting corect and that's that. I was thinking about waiting awhile and purchasing another from another dealer and I would hope it would be a better fit one never knows because the design of this one is bad, to many ways for it to go wrong especially with the locking device setup. just listen and think the seat is separate from the hand rail. the hand rail attaches to a bracket which goes over the studs that come up out of you rare fender for your bolts that hold down the original seat. the bracket has a tong that faces the front of the bike the ends of the hand rail now attach to a bracket that attaches to the last strut bolt on each side which is the ones closest to the seat, you can pivot forward a little with this attachment but remember the hand rail is attached to the bracket that went over the bolts coming out of the fender there is no play there forward or backwards nor up or down. you then comb through the wires in front of your battery and dig down until you find the two bolts attached to the top of your oil tank to attach the locking pin which is a component of the anti theft device on this seat. The underside of the seat has a plate with a hole in it and a plate that will move when pushed on to the pin and then move forward into a locking position. The seat has a key with it to remove it you have to insert a key on the left side and turn this attaches to a cable which when the key is turned it pulls back the locking plate so you can remove it there is a slot in the back of the seat that goes into the tong from the stationary bracket which has the hand rail attached this can be moved forward or back a bit I guess so you can hit the locking pin. I had to move the bracket all the way as far as it would go towards the back so the seat would go forward enough to line up with the locking pin which is a stationary piece which does not move. the bracket was moved all the way which gave me about a half inch that i needed to hit the locking pin.all the while the had rail is back three with a little adjustment but not enough to make up for the half inch or better I moved the seat. The skirt was binding against the rail and would never hit the center of the cut out for the hand rail believe me I wanted the seat bad but after hours of trying every thing that could be done it had to go back. There is really no excuse for this. They should have some testing device made to check every seat that leaves there plant. were not talking about a $150 seat this seat is $500 and you use the hand rail from your original seat. bottom line is the seat was a lemon any way you cut it and the design is UN real it could have been done a lot better one thing would have been to have the hand rail attached right to the seat this way no matter how you move the seat the rail would
