I know there are tons of smart wrenches on this site, so I thought I would throw this out there. I scored this sweet "Retro" style sissy bar of a great guy on E-Bay. The problem is I am sure it is off an old xl sporty (Back tire size likely 130mm), I have bought it thinking I could take a hydraulic jack and spread it in the middle, while putting it in a press and pressing the two outer bars back in at the same time (with a little heat of course) to fit my 04 FXSTS. I cant think of any other way, but thought maybe somebody on here might have an idea?.........Thanks. I have to get it re-chromed/powder coated once it is done, so iam open to all options!.

I am a metal fabricator and I understand what you are trying to do , but it will be dificult to do it evenly so it don't lean to one side, but i'm sure that if you take your time and maybe have to bend it back a little as you go , you will eventually get it right, but if you bend chrome , it will crack so the chrome will have to be removed which the chromer will do anyway, but if you have it powdercoated the cracks in the chrome could be a problem. You would first need to ask the powdercoater if that would be a problem.
I made mine fit the 05 sportster harley fixed side-plates by drilling the extra hole for the bolt. You should get about $200 american money for the bar and maybe another $100 for the brackets.
i think i'd come up with a different sideplate setup before messing with that nice vintage bar. swap meet a set of late model sideplates, and have them modified. steve
I think I am going to leave it alone!!! I can appreciate history!!!!! If anybody knows anybody looking for one $250 U.S. + Shipping and it is gone (Everything you see in the picture), plus I do have an extra set of sideplates!!!
