Guys, thanks all for your responses and kind wishes. I am seeing the dealer tomorrow to talk it through and see what my options are with the panniers. Forgot to mention that I am having Fatboy bars fitted which seem much more comfortable to me.
Hi KiwiDeuce, they don't sell the Deluxe in the UK any more. I think they dropped it last year so the only Heritage model you can buy over here is the Classic. I have to agree that the Deluxe looks great!
Well I solo'd mine out but like the girth the bags provide and the windshield really helps on those long rides. I take it off to show but other than that I keep all that stuff on. U hit 90mph and the wind smacks u hard u wish u had a windshield. LOL Anyway goodluck on your purchase and remember do what you want to make it yours and yours alone. Happy Hunting
they don't sell the deluxe in the UK?? that is wierd.
the only heritage they sell here is the classic as well. the regular heritage softail hasn't been in production since 06 i believe. I really liked that bike.
you can't go wrong with the heritage or the fatboy, but if you really want bags, you should stick with the heritage.
.......yesterday and the sales guy was busy with another customer when I arrived so I took a look around the showroom (as you do!) and saw a Red Hot Sunglo Heritage with the screen and bags by its side and thought to myself, wow that really really looks great. I went over to the bike and wow what a shock when I realised that it was MY bike....! Really looking forward to picking it up at the end of March when (I hope) the weather turns a bit warmer and the salt on the roads has washed away. They say that this has been the hardest Winter in the UK since 1987.
Thanks again for all the replies guys. Hope to post pictures of the new ride soon.

That is a great color choice. I've drooled over one at my local shop too. You know by now that the bag's framework comes off with the bag. Look at my sig pic and you'll see. 'Course I added the chrome.
