Default gas tank

im getting ready to pull my tank off and disasemble it, so i can paint it,is there any tips or tricks that you guys know of to help me out or is it a fairly simple job, oh by the way its a 04 fxst.

Make sure its empty!! Its a pain in the A$$ pullin the crossover line if ya got a ton of fuel in there. And since its off get the braided crossover line too. Just my 0.02 cents.

Pinch off one side of the crossover line so fuel only comes out of one side until u get it off. You can put your finger over the other side so you dont get fuel everywhere.

It's a cake job. Get some rubber line caps. Picnch off one side of the crossover. When you pull the other side off, slip a rubber cap on the stem. You should only get a little spillage if you do it quick.

Thanks for the info guys,but what about pulling the float out of the tank,do i just pull strait up on it until i see a plug and unplug it or do i take that square plate off the tank first?
