Woman rider here with some questions...
Plan on trading in the Nightster for a Deluxe. Dealer has a nice 2008, and I was wondering (before I buy) if there are any issues with them? Any changes or differences with a 2007, 09 or 2010? Do they run hot like the touring models?
The only issue ive had with my 08 is not being able to be home to ride as much as i want and how to handle all the complimants on how sweet these bikes are. But dont let me influence you
You will love the Deluxe. The only thing I know of different from 2008 to 2010 that is major is the way the gears in the trans are cut. (There are a lot of very minor changes also that really don't matter alot) However if you run 85w/140 trans oil in either you will never know the difference. The 2008 and later models have all the bugs worked out and you will love it. Please don't get mad 2007 owners, but that is the first year of the 6 speed and 96ci motor and there was a few complaints on problems, but they are simple to fix. 2008's and later are fine.
They do not run hot unless you do something to modify the bike like new pipes and an air filter upgrade without modifying the fuel management system to a PC-V or Thundermaxx system.

If you like that '08, go for it. The Deluxe's as well as most of the Softail line up are very reliable and great bikes. You will find extreme comfort and a very smooth ride on a Deluxe. Yes, it will run a little hot but most Harley's with the 96 and even 88 do. You can cool it down a little with a Stage 1 upgrade if it doesn't already have one done.
You will love the 08 Deluxe - I have not had any issues (mechanical or other). The six speed tranny is great and once you do the stage-1, it really wakes up! Go for it!
The Deluxe is one sweet ride, the '08 would be my choice. I have been looking at them as a second bike. You won't be dissapointed. All new bikes should have a stage 1 done to them, best thing you can do for a little $$$. It's small when compaired to other mods.
I have an 08 Deluxe and couldn't be happier with it. As stated above there are small changes from the 08 to the newer models but nothing worth frettin over. Very comfortable ride and can be easily modified for touring or cruising.
have an 08 with about 7500 miles on her. I absolutely love it. I haven't heard of any major issues with the 08 softails in comparison to any other years.
I love my 07. Haven't had anything (knock on wood) go wrong with.
During a recent MC show I made a point of sitting on as many models as I could. From other HD's to Victories, Yammies, BMW's and more. NOT ONE felt better to me than my Deluxe. I'll never trade it, ever.
