my fatboy lo my dealer just put my black slip on mufflers on they told me to leave off the satin heat shields they told me the bike looks good with ouy themi have not got the bike back yet to look at it. do you really need the heat shields or will the mufflers be really HOT.
they are gonna be hot with or without them. the heat shields really just hide discoloration (blueing) but on black mufflers I guess that wont be a problem. be sure you get the heatshields back just in case you need them later.
Rush would have them. Or better yet take the satin heat shields that came with the Rush mufflers and have them powder coated. That would be less expensive. Send them to the powder pro, a great forum sponsor.
I haven't put heat shields on mine at all and it looks fine without any blueing or any other discoloration. They have almost 1,000 miles on them and they look perfectly fine. I'm real happy with them and I PERSONALLY don't think it would look very good with heat shields on them, but that's MY opinion. Do what you think looks good. There's really no need for them on the rush slip-on's. Good luck and if you decide to install some shields, post up some pics so we can see them.
i saw my fatboy lo at the dealer the black rush slip on mufflers look real nice i think i will not put the heat shield on. i am having a problem i oreded a meduim lo sqaure back rest the dealer said it will not fit. they told me a need the round tube type back rest always something
