Beware of Demons cycles. Search for the demons cycles junk thread. That should tell you enough.

Yeah- you've mentioned this once already in this thread. As I said, I am sure there are folks who have had negative experiences with them, but I have had two GOOD experiences with them, so until I am shown otherwise, I will remain positive about them.

You should probably do the same. However, you are a competing company, so it's all coming together now...

I have an axle mounted tag plate from Road 6 Customs, great price and easy to install. I also ran the wiring for my tag lights behind the swing arm up under the seat, shrink wrapped and zipped tied.

I didn't like the stock tail light either and also wanted to get rid of the strut mounted turn signals. I pickup some stop/turn leds, fabbed a bracket to fit under the fender and a little rewiring. All this cost me less than $100.

Well, I had actually found a couple on this one website...something like V-Twin Doctor? lol...I'll likely be contacting you in a week or so. Depends on what else I find out there. I'm not too afraid of giving anyone the benefit of a doubt, so long as they do have some good reveiws and there are people that trust them. But, I also want to be picky about the product I choose. What I'm really wanting to find is a license plate holder that is side-mounted (starting to lean more for an axle mount) vertically, and is curved. Possibly with lighting? Only the plate, I don't want it to serve as an extra brake light.

Thanks for the link. Those look GREAT! I am considering their roto-plate now...lol. Not sure I care for it actually rotating, but if some states don't like vertical plates, I could see that coming in handy.

Good luck with your modifications.
Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if the dealership added anything or not. When I asked, the tech just told me what he thought was in the kit from the top of his head. So, he may have been wrong in a few spots?

Thanks for the input. I'm really looking forward to getting this done.

That looks VERY nice! I like it, and it's unique. I'm kinda partial to my existing turn signals...just not the tail-light. That is a new idea, and it has be thinking of what other things may be more creative than I've been aiming for. Thanks for sharing!

However, I guess this leads me to ask:

Is there anything wrong with removing all of the plastic and bits underneath the fender? I know that would leave it open a bit more, and that is really what I'm wanting to do...just haven't seen anyone else do it.

Again, I want to thank everybody for their input!

I've seen at least one other guy on this forum remove the rear tail light from his fat bob fender once he went to a side mount plate and it really opens up the look. You might find his bike in the Softail Standard pics section.

For me I'd like to retain the rear tail light as a running light and a stop light for safety reasons, meaning, the cage behind me might more likely see me with two running lights. Then use the side mount light as a running light and a tag light.

That's what I did, kept the rear tail light and cut off the license plate portion. I think I am going to trim some more off the corners following the contour of the fender, maybe it will look a little better. Do you have a link to the J&P cycles tail light you mentioned in an earlier post?

Gooberdog,
Thanks for answering my question and posting the pic. Nice bike and nice rear brake rotor! Guess I was tripping ‘cause I swear the other night while eating dinner I was perusing the JP Cycle catalog looking at side mount license plates and I saw a red only tail light lens for the fat bob fender, but I sure and heck can’t find it now. Sorry. If I find one, I’ll post a link.

After talking about this I decided to trim the bottom and corners off some more. It looks much better now, more inset and flush with the fender. I think I'm going to order the Kuryakyn 4959 tail light. It is a low profile light and not protrude out as far. I think it will look pretty good.
