Have the Chrome Flamed Console Insert on my bike. It was already installed when I bought the bike. Not really into the flames and have always thought about removing it. Looking for some ideas on what to do. Could remove it and go back to stock. Part of me wonders if the original dash may be scratched or something. If it is, I would like to have a back up plan. Any diy ideas? What trick things have you guys done? Also, something cheap would be best.
You need the low profile dash for your tank like WARG added. It looks sick. Cheap it is not. I would add one but it would require me finding anew way to mount my iphone for music and that is not going to happen.
I want the black one, but it just doesn't seem like it should be $75 to me($60 with discount). Aren't they just stamped aluminum with a sticker on them.
I know, most regular people look at the things we buy for our bikes and think you paid what for that? But to me the dash inserts should be $20-$30. And why is the black one $20 more than designs.
I just don't like the sand cast or pot metal look of the regular dash, the smooth chrome is good, but not the texture
Yeah, I know about the black insert. Its not worth $75 to me either. Saving for some apes, trying to do this on the cheap.
Thought about painting it black. Dont think it will stick or wear very well in the sun and cleaning all the time. And it will be hard to get clean, distinct lines between the insert and chrome console parts.
Powder coat. But, I have learned after many many mod sthat I am always happier when I save for what I really want and then get it. If I do something like that I usually end up replacing it eventually anyway. The inserts are great but find them over priced as well. Peel off the one that is there and shine up the chrome.

Agreed, id pull it off, clean it up real nice and powdercoat it black.
