Default Stage 1 or Not Stage 1

I bought some Vance & Hines Slip-On mufflers for my 2010 Heritage. The dealer said that I should do a stage 1 and dyno. My question is, do I really need to do that just for switching to new mufflers? They say I'll see about another 6HP from that. Is a 6HP increase even noticeable?

You'll get lots of opinions, more if you do a search for similar questions.

For slip ons, IMHO, no. You don't need a stage 1 (air cleaner and tuner).

IMHO, a stage 1 is worth it, the bike will run better (smoother) and cooler and that you will notice. Will your butt dyno notice 6hp, probably not.

I just put a Power Commander V and Stage 1 A/C from Fuel Moto on my Deluxe and I'm happy with it's performance and cost.

Congrats on the Heritage.

Nope,slip-ons you don't..back when I bought my bike,I put slip-ons and rode it 1000mi and then i installed stage one,no difference at all,now when I installed my VH's it really ran great...so if you are just doin slip-on's...No ride it and down the rode when you get a full system, then do a stage 1,but better a commander,or pak

Agree with above posts. Had Rush slip on's with no trouble. Added PCV and A/C later.

I'd add slip ons for the sound and looks. I'd add a true dual system to increase breathing and performance and therefore do the whole deal with the stage 1. Don't "Need" it but lean stocker runing leaner with true dual system...

Stage one makes a big difference but don't let the dealership do it. Have it done by an indy. 1) It's probably cheaper, done right, and on time and 2) The dealership has to tune the bike and meet EPA exhaust and sound regulations. The indy doesn't. So, if the dealership does the work, the power increase will be minimal. The indy will tune the bike to get the maximum performance.

Yeap with a full system + A/C you will need it to run right, then you will notice a big change..like I said run your slips for awile and save up,pipes aren't cheap and a fuel managment also.but that really is the way to go..

Run it for a few miles, 20-25 or so and check your plugs. That will tell you what your bike wants. Dark-ok, white-too hot. Every bike is different. It's easy to check, but a fried eng that might void warranty is not.

Slip on's only don't bother with a Dyno. If you add an aftermarket air filter setup get a tuner and have it dynoed. Other wise forget it.
